Free Double glazing Quotes

Request up to 4 no-obligation quotes, subject to local availability.

Tell us what needs changing and compare the options

Use one online enquiry for replacement windows, glazed doors or new glass in existing frames. Double Glazing Quotes can match the request with up to four independent local specialists. Responses depend on the job and who covers your postcode, so you may receive fewer than four quotations.

The enquiry is free for homeowners, with no obligation to order. We do not measure, supply or install the products. The company you choose is responsible for its advice, quotation and work. Businesses joining the network are asked for relevant insurance details and references; check current documents before appointing one.

Give the installer a useful starting point

  • Count whole windows, individual glass units and doors separately. A three-pane window can need one new unit rather than three.
  • Say whether the existing frames are uPVC, timber or aluminium, and describe any rot, damaged hinges or locking problems.
  • List bays, sash windows, large fixed panes, side panels and patio doors, since their sizes and fitting requirements differ.
  • Mention your preferred frame finish and any privacy, acoustic or solar-control glass.
  • Describe access: floor level, a conservatory below, narrow passages, parking restrictions and occupied rooms.
  • Include listed-building status, conservation restrictions or leasehold permissions that may affect the order.

Rough measurements and photographs taken safely from inside are enough for an initial conversation. Do not remove glazing beads or lean out to measure. The installer needs to take the manufacturing dimensions.

Indicative UK glazing costs

These are broad supply-and-fitting budgets for the six services, rather than local averages or fixed offers. Read the scope beside each figure: some ranges run from a single item to a larger order. Misted and blown unit replacement often cover the same fault and should not be added together.

Indicative UK replacement glazing costs and common hardware repairs
Service or related workGuide rangeWhat the range covers
Double Glazed Window Replacement£550–£12,000One complete window at the lower end; several openings or a typical whole-house scheme at the upper end. Premium materials and larger homes can exceed this range.
Misted Double Glazing Replacement£80–£450A small standard sealed unit through to a larger pane or a modest group of straightforward units. Frames retained; confirm the pane count.
Blown Double Glazed Unit Replacement£100–£900A simple failed unit through to several units, specialist glass or more difficult access. Not an additional charge on top of misted-unit replacement.
Double Glazed Glass Replacement£120–£750A damaged small unit through to larger safety-glass panels or more involved replacement. Ask for urgent attendance and boarding to be itemised.
uPVC Window Replacement£400–£8,000One basic white casement through to a typical multi-window order. Coloured sash styles, bays and larger houses can cost more.
Double Glazed Door Replacement£900–£4,000A basic fitted doorset through to French, composite or patio configurations. Side panels, size and specification can take a project beyond this range.
Window hinge replacement£60–£150A straightforward hinge repair to one accessible opener, including fitting; specialist hardware or a separate call-out can cost more.
Window handle replacement£50–£100One standard compatible handle fitted. An internal locking gearbox is a different repair and needs its own price.

These are indicative figures, not a guaranteed maximum. Confirm VAT where applicable, minimum visit charges, surveys, old-glass disposal, access equipment and making good in the written total. Related repairs only add to the bill if they are needed and not already included.

For comparison, published glass replacement prices, window installation budgets and hinge repair estimates illustrate how scope changes the price. A published fitted handle price provides a further repair comparison. These are cross-checks, not quotations for your property.

Why the final price can change

Unit dimensions, frame material, opening style and the number of items matter more than the number of rooms. Plain white uPVC is commonly less expensive than bespoke timber, aluminium or foiled sash designs. Safety glass, acoustic laminates, decorative bars and non-standard shapes also affect manufacturing costs.

On site, the condition of the opening and safe access can change the labour needed. A heavy patio unit may require an extra pair of hands; an upper-floor opening over a glazed roof may require access equipment. Travel, parking and regional labour rates affect small repairs particularly. Structural alterations and major plaster repairs should be priced separately.

Ask for a quotation you can compare line by line

Request a schedule showing every opening, the frame system and colour, glass specification, locks and handles, ventilation provision and whole-window or doorset performance. Check whether old frames are completely removed and whether window boards, external cills and internal trims are included.

For complete replacements, agree the building-control or applicable self-certification route. For a unit swap, confirm that the existing frame is suitable and that the replacement glass meets the requirements for its position. Compare the manufacturer's guarantee with the installer's workmanship cover and ask who deals with a failed seal later.

Before confirming the order

Get the survey, manufacturing lead time and expected fitting duration separately. Check opening directions, obscure patterns and colours before approving a made-to-measure order. Agree deposits, stage payments and cancellation terms in writing; do not assume every glazing order has the same cooling-off rights. Read Citizens Advice on cancelling a service and ask how the terms apply to your particular supply-and-install contract.

Questions homeowners ask

Can I compare a repair with complete window replacement?

Yes. Explain that you want both options assessed. A repair quote should name the units or hardware being changed; a replacement quote should include the complete frames and associated finishing work.

Is the lowest figure in the table a whole-house price?

No. The lower end of the window ranges relates to one basic window. Whole-house totals depend on the number, dimensions and specification of all the openings.

Does sending the form book an installer?

No. It starts an enquiry. Arrange any survey, charges, order and fitting appointment directly with the responding firm after you have reviewed its terms.

Can I stop after receiving the quotations?

Yes. You can decide that the timing, specification or price is unsuitable and decline the offers. Receiving a quote does not itself place an order.
