New windows, clearer glass or a door that closes properly
A cloudy kitchen pane and a draughty set of bedroom windows need different solutions. Double Glazing Quotes gives you a place to describe either job and ask local glazing businesses for a price. You can request help with one opening, several failed units or a larger window and door project.
Complete one free online enquiry to be matched with up to four independent specialists, subject to the services they offer and availability in your area. Four quotations are not guaranteed, and you can decline any offer. We introduce you to firms; we do not supply the products, employ their fitters or install the glazing.
Choose the work you need
- Double Glazed Window Replacement: complete frames and glazing in timber, aluminium or uPVC, with a survey of the openings and surrounding finishes.
- Misted Double Glazing Replacement: cloudy glass units replaced while suitable frames stay in place, including matching patterned bathroom panes.
- Blown Double Glazed Unit Replacement: made-to-size units for failed edge seals, with compatible low-E glass and warm-edge spacer options.
- Double Glazed Glass Replacement: damaged sealed units replaced with the appropriate clear, obscure, toughened or laminated glass.
- uPVC Window Replacement: new casement, tilt-and-turn, flush or sliding sash windows, with colours and hardware chosen for each room.
- Double Glazed Door Replacement: front and back doors, French doors and sliding patio doors, including the frame, locks and threshold.
Check whether the frame can stay
Moisture trapped between the panes usually points to a failed sealed unit. If the frame, opening sash and hardware remain serviceable, a glazier can often replace that unit alone. Misted glazing and blown units are overlapping descriptions of this problem, so you do not need to submit two enquiries for the same pane.
A draught is different. It can come from worn weather seals, a loose hinge, a dropped sash or a gap around the frame. Ask whether adjustment or a hardware repair would solve it. New glass will not straighten a warped frame or repair rotten timber.
When frames are beyond repair, full replacement lets you reconsider opening styles and materials. A bay needs careful surveying and support checks; an inward-opening tilt-and-turn window needs room to open past blinds and furniture. These details belong in the survey, not as surprises on fitting day.
Choose the glass for the room
Low-emissivity coatings, an insulating gas fill and suitable spacer bars can improve thermal performance. Compare the performance of the complete window, rather than a glass-only figure presented as the rating for the whole product. For road noise, ask about a tested acoustic specification: an extra pane alone does not tell you how much sound it will reduce.
Bathrooms may need obscure glass, while exposed glazed doors and low panes may need safety glazing. Toughened and laminated products do different jobs, and the installer should specify an appropriate product for its position. Large south-facing panes may also benefit from a discussion about solar gain and shading.
From enquiry to fitting
- Tell us your postcode, the number of windows or doors and the problem you want to resolve.
- Responding businesses can discuss photos and arrange a measuring visit. Mention awkward access over an extension or conservatory.
- Compare written quotations that list frames, glass, hardware, ventilation, finishes, disposal and applicable certification.
- Agree the order and installation dates with your chosen firm. Made-to-measure products need manufacturing time before the fitting visit.
Companies joining the network are asked for relevant insurance details and references. Before ordering, check the firm's current insurance, recent installations and guarantee terms yourself.
Ventilation, permissions and finishing
New frames can make a room more airtight. The survey should address background ventilation, existing extract fans and any escape opening that must be retained. Approved Document F for England sets out ventilation guidance; the applicable requirements depend on the work and the rules in force for it.
For complete replacements, ask how building regulations compliance will be documented in your UK nation. If the home is listed, subject to local planning restrictions or leasehold, check consents before ordering. Start with the Planning Portal guidance for England for its area of coverage, or your local authority elsewhere.
Removal can disturb plaster, tiles, blinds and window boards. Agree which surfaces the fitter will make good and which decoration you will arrange. Keep the order, guarantee and any compliance certificate together after handover.
Questions homeowners ask
Can I enquire about just one misted pane?
Yes. Give the room, floor and approximate pane size. A glazier may have a minimum visit charge, so ask for the full fitted price rather than a glass-only supply price.
Will replacement glazing stop all condensation?
No. Moisture between the panes and condensation on a room-facing surface have different causes. Surface condensation also depends on indoor moisture, ventilation and temperature, so changing the glass alone may not resolve it.
What if I need an urgent broken-glass repair?
Keep people and pets away from the damaged opening and contact a glazier who confirms urgent attendance directly. This enquiry service does not guarantee an emergency response or same-day boarding.
